The Forbidden Tomes of Olipos Crafting & Builds Guide

Turn chest relics into tomes—and the UR gear the finale demands.

Crafting Builds in The Forbidden Tomes of Olipos

Builds are the comeback story

Romina’s arc in The Forbidden Tomes of Olipos is literally about rebuilding power. Crafting and fusion of magic books from relics is the mechanical expression of that arc—and the finale literally requires two high-rarity crafts. This guide explains loadouts across Fulah, Seal Cave, Ripool, Dorna, and the Sealed Isle with that endgate in mind.

Itemized tracking: Crafting Recipes. Slots: Equipment. Application: Combat & Magic. Finale packing: Final Boss Prep.

Mandatory finale crafts (do not miss)

Before Zahal & Olipos / Heavenly Snake forms, you must craft and wear:

  1. Rainbow Orb (UR)
  2. Heavenly Snake Eight-Radiance Stone (UR+)

These cover the finale’s status and Heavenly Snake venom-style pressure. They are not optional prestige pieces. If either recipe is unavailable, you missed a dungeon chest—turn around with glasses on and sweep Seal Cave, Dorna, and Mt. Sion again (Dungeons, Sealed Isle).

Heavenly Snake Stone material sits in the Mt. Sion underground hideout. Skipping that nook is the classic UR+ softlock.

Medal books still matter beside crafts: Energy Burst (80) and Luminous Nova (110) come from Medal Rewards, not the fusion bench.

Materials are mostly chest gear

Fusion food is primarily equipment and relics from treasure chests, not infinite shop trash. That means:

  • Open every chest before you mark a dungeon clear
  • Do not sell “old” rares because a newer SR looks prettier
  • Use Ripool side quests to unlock merchants that sell replacement fusion mats if you already sold something (Side Quests)
  • Spirit-space crafting and medal trades sit in the same Ripool basement—visit both

Relic triage rules

When a relic drops, ask:

  1. Does it fuse into a book or UR piece that fills a hole?
  2. Is it better sold for a shop accessory right now?
  3. Should it wait until after the next vendor (Mottl, Ripool, medal clerk)?

Default bias: keep fusion candidates until you have compared them in town. Gold is recoverable; a miscraftoversell before Morphin—or before Rainbow Orb—is not.

Early build (Fulah → Seal Cave)

Prioritize survivability, a reliable offense book, and silence-leaning accessories. Morphin grades this homework with silence spikes (Boss Fights, Seal Cave). Buy healing until trash mistakes stop deleting you, then invest in the accessory that lets books actually cast.

Loot the Red Dragon Stone chest even though it is a side-quest key—not every shiny is fusion food, but every chest is suspect until opened.

Mid build (Ripool → Dorna)

Harbor spirit space unlocks serious crafting + medals. Arrive at Permidora with upgraded fused tomes, paralysis answers, and Meteor Grave plans at level 23 (Dorna Ruins). Medal trades may jump a tier—check Shining Medals before dumping coins on low-impact SR duplicates.

Late build (Sealed Isle)

Consolidate near-duplicate tomes. Secure Treasure Ring EX for medal farming, grab Heavenly Snake Stone, fuse the UR / UR+ pair, learn Nova at 45+, and only then open the peak fight. Diversify so one status pattern cannot delete the plan.

Sample roles to cover

  • Primary damage — Luminous Nova late; Cold Dust / Meteor Grave earlier
  • Buff window — Energy Burst (2-stack)
  • Sustain — Heal tools and Healing Armlet tier medals
  • Status armor — Rainbow Orb + Eight-Radiance Stone + silence/paralysis accessories
  • Flex — region-specific answer after a failed attempt

You are covering roles in a compact JRPG, not maintaining a twenty-hour spreadsheet.

Fusion mistakes

  • Fusing without re-equipping (Controls)
  • Crafting away a book you still needed for a side pattern
  • Selling chest gear that was Rainbow Orb food
  • Delaying the story forever to “perfect” Fulah while Cattleya waits
  • Ignoring merchant mat unlocks after Need’s Special Film hand-in

Medals as build currency

Shining Medals are parallel XP for your gear fantasy. Sweep with touch-to-defeat QoL using the Medal Tracker, but always reserve brain space for the 80/110 books.

NG+ and builds

Carryover in New Game Plus makes early fusions daring on run two. On run one, protect unique relics until Morphin is dead—and keep finale UR mats sacred until fused.

Chest discipline checklist

  • Seal Cave side chests (including Red Dragon Stone)
  • Dorna side stairs / teleporter wings
  • Mt. Sion underground hideout (Heavenly Snake Stone)
  • Mt. Sion peak (Treasure Ring EX and medals)
  • Ripool spirit-space craft after each major haul

Closing craft bench note

Think like the Great Royal Library: catalog what you have, fuse with intent, never shelve a chest as “optional fluff.” The daemons stole Romina’s magic; they did not steal your ability to open every box on the way to a Rainbow Orb and an Eight-Radiance Stone. When those two sit beside Nova, the hard-but-fair promise returns.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for librarians chasing forbidden tomes.

What crafts are mandatory for the final bosses?

Rainbow Orb (UR) and Heavenly Snake Eight-Radiance Stone (UR+). See [Final Boss Prep](/guides/final-boss-prep/).

Where do fusion materials come from?

Primarily dungeon treasure chests—missed chests are the usual reason a UR recipe stays locked.

Should I sell relics for gold?

Only after checking [Crafting Recipes](/items/crafting-recipes/). Fusion usually wins, especially for finale mats.

When do I spend Shining Medals?

Prioritize Energy Burst (80) and Luminous Nova (110) via [Medal Rewards](/tools/medal-rewards/).

What if I already sold a key material?

Finish the Special Film → Need errand so merchants sell fusion mats ([Side Quests](/guides/side-quests/)), and re-sweep chests.
