The Forbidden Tomes of Olipos Enemies & Farming
Touch-defeat QoL, EXP routes, and medal grind loops.
Encounter style
The Forbidden Tomes of Olipos uses symbol encounters—visible field enemies you can engage or avoid—rather than pure step RNG. That makes farming intentional: you choose a loop, clear a circuit, and return to a crystal or recovery point. Pair this page with Dungeons, Shining Medals, and Final Boss Prep.
Touch-defeat after a dungeon clear
Once you clear a dungeon (and its story boss gate), enemies in that cleared space can shift into touch-to-defeat behavior: brush them to collect rewards without a full battle. Use it for:
- Second-pass chest and medal sweeps
- Low-stress gold top-ups
- Cleaning routes you already understand
Do not expect touch-defeat to replace Morphin, Permidora, or the isle finale. Named bosses still demand kits from Boss Fights.
Early and mid EXP — Metal Slimes near Dorna
On the mountain path toward Dorna Ruins (ruins mountain road segments), watch for a recovery point area where Metal Slime style enemies appear. This is the kinder EXP faucet before Permidora:
- Advance story far enough to walk the Dorna approach safely.
- Heal at the recovery point.
- Hunt Metal Slimes in short bursts.
- Return to Fulah if resources thin—do not softlock yourself before crystal puzzles.
Thunder / area tools from early levels still matter on the Seal Cave road; by Dorna, you should already be comfortable casting under pressure (Combat & Magic).
Mid-late economy — Grand Metal and Grand Gold
On the Sealed Isle’s Mt. Sion mid layer, near the large transfer / teleport crystal, you will find Grand Metal and Grand Gold style targets:
- Grand Metal — EXP-focused grinding when you are under the level 45 finale gate
- Grand Gold — gold and, crucially, Shining Medal drops for spirit-space trades
Park on the crystal, run a tight circle, teleport or walk back when inventory or MP complains. This loop is how completionists finish the 110-medal Luminous Nova tier without replaying the whole campaign.
Treasure Ring EX — drop-rate multiplier
Loot Treasure Ring EX from a chest on Mt. Sion peak before you settle into long Grand Gold sessions. Equip it to raise drop odds while medal hunting. Peak chests also hide other completion baubles—glasses on, corners checked (Sealed Isle).
Suggested order:
- Reach mid crystal and note the Grand spawns.
- Push peak far enough to secure Treasure Ring EX (and nearby medals).
- Return to mid crystal with the ring on.
- Farm Grand Gold until Medal Rewards tiers you care about are done.
- Craft finale gear, then fight (Final Boss Prep).
What to farm for (priority stack)
- Survivability levels for the next story boss
- Silence / paralysis answers as accessories unlock
- Fusion materials from chests (exploration first, grind second)
- Shining Medals toward Energy Burst (80) and Luminous Nova (110)
- Luxury gold for Ripool / Mottl shop fills
Medals do not replace story flags. You still need Cattleya, Mottl, and ferry unlocks (Walkthrough Hub).
Heart-marked field threats
Some symbols telegraph adult-leaning encounter pressure. If you are protecting a Good Ending Desire gauge profile, defeat them quickly and move on; if you are exploring Desire routes, read Endings for soft guidance. This farming page will not catalog graphic beats—only remind you that field choices affect gauge and flags.
Region farming map (mental model)
| Region | Farm focus |
|---|---|
| Fulah outskirts | Early trash XP, glasses loot |
| Seal Cave (post-clear) | Touch-defeat cleanup, missed chests |
| Dorna mountain path | Metal Slime EXP near recovery point |
| Dorna Ruins (post-clear) | Touch-defeat + medal sweep |
| Mt. Sion mid | Grand Metal / Grand Gold |
| Mt. Sion peak | Treasure Ring EX, medal nodes |
Anti-patterns
- Grinding Seal Cave for an hour instead of buying/fusing a silence answer
- Ferrying to the isle “to farm” with empty heal stocks
- Ignoring Treasure Ring EX then complaining Grand Gold is stingy
- Spending medals on early SR vanity before Energy Burst / Nova planning
- Assuming touch-defeat works on the finale pair
Linkage to builds
Farming feeds Crafting Builds only if you keep chest relics long enough to fuse Rainbow Orb and Heavenly Snake Eight-Radiance Stone. Gold is renewable; unique chest pieces are not. When a bag choice appears, prefer fusion candidates over vendor spam.
NG+ farming
Carryover levels and gear make Metal Slime and Grand loops trivial on run two (New Game Plus). Use that power to finish medal tiers or Desire-route flags you skipped while scared—not to skip talking to Cattleya.

Closing loop note
Good farms are short circles with a crystal in the middle, not pilgrimages across the whole continent. Touch what you have cleared, Metal-farm when Dorna’s road offers it, ring-up for Grand Gold on Sion mid, then spend medals like a librarian buying the exact edition she needs—Nova, not shelves of duplicates.
